Wednesday/Thursday, 10/22 - 10/23

Biology:

- I announced that the unit 3 test will be next block day (10/29 or 10/30). I passed out the study guide and vocab packets. They are also posted digitally on the class notebook. If you were gone, make sure to get this from me!

- We finished our cell membrane model that we started on Tuesday. If you were gone, you don't need to do anything to make this up - your group should be taking care of it for you.

- We took notes on pg. 8 to learn about the difference between passive and active transport. If you were were gone, you need to get those notes, then answer practice questions 1-4 on pg. 10 (the title of the page is "Diffusion Summary".)

- We went back to pg. 9 to take more notes about osmosis. Get those notes from the class notebook, then watch this video to help you understand the concept fully: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDDqY7IZhxQ

- I passed out a lab sheet for a lab that you will be doing on Friday. Today, we just did some thinking work to prep for doing the lab on Friday. If you were gone, you will need to get this from me on Friday.


Honors Bio:

See above. Your Orbeez lab will be a little more complicated than what it described above, but still just get the lab sheet from me on Friday.


Natural Resources:

We went on a field trip to BUGS to learn about soil and learn how to perform a soil health assessment. If you were gone, I am going to assign you a special Teams assignment to catch up on what you missed.

  Biology: - I passed out the study guide for the Unit 1 Test (Friday, 9/12). If you were gone, here is what I explained: This study guide is your ticket for being able to retake the test. If you turn in a completed study guide on the day of the test BEFORE you take your test, then you are eligible for a retake if needed. If you don't turn in a study guide, you won't be penalized - it just means you won't be able to retake the test.  You can choose to complete your study guide however you'd like. If you choose to do it on paper, then I recommend using additional notebook paper to give yourself enough room to answer all the questions thoroughly. I will have a key available for you next week. When you are finished with your study guide, you can check it with my key. Friday, 8/22/25

 Biology: - We finished all the notes up to pg. 3 in the notes packet. Check the class notebook to make sure you get all the information in that table on pg. 3. - If you were gone today, I want you to answer questions 1-2 in your notes packet on the top of pg. 4. We did a sorting activity in class to have a deeper discussion about the purposes of the Bible and science, but I won't have you make that up - just answer questions 1-2 and you're good.  - Some classes might get to the point where we take notes on pg. 4 - check your class notebook to see how far your class got, and catch up to that point.  Biology: - I checked off your desktop apps on your laptops. If you were gone, you need to see me in office hours and show me the desktop apps on your laptop. It will go in the gradebook as "M" (missing) until you show me. - We took the unit 1 quiz. If you were gone, you need to schedule a time with me next week at lunch or after school to take this. It needs to be done before the test on Friday. - I passed out the Daphnia Experimentation lab packet and we took notes on it to prepare for a lab that we are starting on Monday.
