Wednesday/Thursday 9/10 - 9/11
Biology:
- Today we worked on pg. 7 in the notes packet: what makes a good experiment? We're talking about ethics, like right and wrong. We did scripture analysis to develop a list of criteria we can use to evaluate whether an experiment is ethical or not. Then we looked at some examples of experiments and debated their ethics. If you were gone, you need to copy down notes for pg. 7 (you can find the notes in the class notebook. Chat me if you're not sure how to do that.) On the test, I will give you an example of an experiment, and you will have to make claims about the ethics of the experiment, then justify those claims with key points from scripture. The scripture will be provided for you. You just need to be able to connect the dots.
- The second half of class was your time to finish the data analysis assignment and then work on your study guide to prep for the test on Friday. Note that I changed the deadline of the data analysis assignment to Friday. If you want to check your study guide using my key, come see me before the test. If you want extra practice problems, use the rest of the practice problems in the back of your notes packet and then look at the class notebook notes to check your answers. All the answers have now been posted.
Honors Biology: DIFFERENT THAN ABOVE - READ CAREFULLY
- Since we don't have time to get to experiment ethics before the test, I am removing question 13 from the study guide. It will not be on the test.
- The first part of class was spent doing part 3 of the daphnia lab. I had you collect data for your own experiment, then answer the questions up to #17 on the packet, then turn the packet in.
- The second half of class was your time to finish the data analysis assignment on Teams and then work on your study guide. See what I wrote for the grade level Biology above (second bullet point) for information on how to prepare for the test.
Natural Resources:
Field trip to the Boise River: sampling water quality above and below the output pipe. If you were gone, you will need to get the class data on Friday.
