 Biology: how do we use science to make conclusions about the world?

- We added a few notes on pg. 1 in the notes packet. See the class notebook to get those.

- We did an activity called "The Great Fossil Find" to keep learning about the process of science. If you were gone, please ask me for the fossil find questions sheet.

- Reminder: download desktop apps on your computer! I will be checking these off on block day.


Honors biology: see above


Natural Resources: 

- Today we started taking notes on Unit 1: Water Management. If you were gone, you can find these notes on the class notebook. 

- I announced information for the field trip this Wednesday.

- Location: Boise River

- Purpose: sample macroinvertebrates to assess water quality.

- Mode of transportation: bus (meet in front of the annex and get straight on the bus. Use the annex bathrooms to change if you need. Be quick!)

- My phone number: 541-417-0445. Please save this to your contacts and send me a text with your name so I have your number. If you won't be there for the field trip, please text me so I don't wait for you.

        - Timing: I don't plan on taking all of your lunch, but it's possible we will get back a little late (this field trip takes more time). Don't plan on being able to drive off-campus on Wednesday.

- Bring:

○ Shorts or pants that can be rolled up.

○ Water shoes, waders, or old tennis shoes that you can wear into the river. (bring dry shoes to change into afterwards).

○ A pencil. (just bring your whole backpack and leave it on the bus. I'm just saying the only thing you'll use is a pencil).

Wednesday/Thursday, 9/3 - 9/4

  Biology: - I passed out the study guide for the Unit 1 Test (Friday, 9/12). If you were gone, here is what I explained: This study guide is your ticket for being able to retake the test. If you turn in a completed study guide on the day of the test BEFORE you take your test, then you are eligible for a retake if needed. If you don't turn in a study guide, you won't be penalized - it just means you won't be able to retake the test.  You can choose to complete your study guide however you'd like. If you choose to do it on paper, then I recommend using additional notebook paper to give yourself enough room to answer all the questions thoroughly. I will have a key available for you next week. When you are finished with your study guide, you can check it with my key. This must be done in class or during office hours because I don't ever post the key. - We did a microscope lab to familiarize yourself with a microscope so we can use it for an experiment next week. Friday, 8/22/25

 Biology: - We finished all the notes up to pg. 3 in the notes packet. Check the class notebook to make sure you get all the information in that table on pg. 3. - If you were gone today, I want you to answer questions 1-2 in your notes packet on the top of pg. 4. We did a sorting activity in class to have a deeper discussion about the purposes of the Bible and science, but I won't have you make that up - just answer questions 1-2 and you're good.  - Some classes might get to the point where we take notes on pg. 4 - check your class notebook to see how far your class got, and catch up to that point.  Biology: - I checked off your desktop apps on your laptops. If you were gone, you need to see me in office hours and show me the desktop apps on your laptop. It will go in the gradebook as "M" (missing) until you show me. - We took the unit 1 quiz. If you were gone, you need to schedule a time with me next week at lunch or after school to take this. It needs to be done before the test on Friday. - I passed out the Daphnia Experimentation lab packet and we took notes on it to prepare for a lab that we are starting on Monday.
